FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What is your worship service like?

Our 10:45 a.m. service is approximately 60-75 minutes in length. It features our Praise Team leading contemporary music with a touch of traditional music, occasional dramas and multi-media elements, as well as a relevant message based on a biblical text. The atmosphere is also relaxed, friendly and comfortable.

2. What is considered appropriate dress for your church?

We don't make dress an issue at our church. We have folk who feel comfortable in jeans and those who like ties and dresses. Feel free to dress in a way that's appropriate for you.

3. What's available for my children on Sunday mornings?

During our Sunday School time (9:30 – 10:35 a.m.) classes are offered for children and youth of all ages. There is also an adult small group that meets during that same time frame.

During the 10:45 a.m. service we provide nursery care for infants and small children (up through age 2) as well as an additional activity and learning time for older children (ages 3 – grade 5). Older children worship with their families until the offering when they're dismissed for their program.

4. Are guests expected to give an offering in your services?

No. You are our guest and we're very glad that you've decided to spend some of your valuable time worshiping God with us. You are free to give an offering, but you're certainly not expected to do so.

5. Are guests singled out or forced to identify themselves?

No. We realize many guests are "church shopping" and just want to check us out initially. Our Front Line Team (greeter & ushers) will extend a friendly welcome to you when you walk in and provide you with some information about the church. But you will not be asked to identify yourself publicly, wear a badge, stand up, raise your hand or be embarrassed in any way.

6. What kind of Baptist are you?

There are several Baptist denominations and many independent Baptist churches in our country. We're affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA – the oldest Baptist denomination in the United States. Our church could be described as evangelical and conservative in terms of theology.

7. What does your church believe?

Baptists are non-creedal, meaning we do not have an official statement of faith to which all members must subscribe. Nevertheless, all staff and elders of the church must hold to the following beliefs in order to serve in their positions of leadership. You should also expect these beliefs to be assumed in the Pastor's Sunday messages.

We believe the Bible is the authoritative and inspired Word of God and provides all the information necessary to live a faithful and obedient life before God.

We believe God is three persons in one, the Holy Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe Jesus Christ is the incarnation of the second person of the Trinity: the Son of God.

We believe Jesus is fully divine and human.

We believe Jesus was born of a virgin woman named Mary.

We believe Jesus lived a sinless life, died on the cross for the sins of humanity and rose again physically from the dead.

We believe Jesus ascended into heaven following his resurrection and that he will return again someday in the future.

We believe that human beings are sinful and cannot save themselves.

We believe that eternal life and/or salvation is a gift of God's grace that cannot be either earned or deserved through human behavior.

We believe this gift of salvation is received by faith in Jesus and his finished work of redemption.

We believe a person is born again by regeneration through the Holy Spirit.

We believe every believer is called to live an increasingly obedient, Spirit-filled life as an expression of gratitude and love for the gift of eternal life.

We believe every Christian is a member of the universal, spiritual Church – the Body of Christ – and ought to join a local expression of that entity, i.e. a local church for the purposes of worship, growth and outreach.

We believe that there will be an eternal judgment and that those who have trusted Christ will enter into heaven and those who have not trusted Christ will enter into hell.
