ABBINGTON GIVING EXPERIENCE (AGE)
AGE is our outreach ministry to our next-door neighbor, Abbington of Powell – an assisted living facility for senior citizens. Visitation, a monthly fellowship gathering (3rd Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.) at the facility, adopt-a-grandparent, seasonal worship services and other kinds of events are a part of this ministry to our Abbington residents and their families.
SERVANT EVANGELISM
Because we want to always show God's love in a practical way, Servant Evangelism is a part of our on-going ministry. On a regular basis, we go to community events to distribute bottled water, lollipops, handwarmers and whatever else we think of to the families attending ABSOLUTELY FREE! No strings attached - No "catch" - No hidden agenda - We simply to do it because we believe that God's wants us to be kind to everyone. We believe that "Small things done with great love can change the world!"
Look for us in 2010 at (and in!) the Powell Memorial Day Parade and the June Powell Festival, as well as around the neighborhood doing service projects.
FRONT LINE TEAM
When you go anywhere, you want to know you are welcome from the moment you arrive throughout the entire experience. Our Front Line Team consists of the Greeters and Ushers who are trained, dedicated members and friends of the church and who understand the importance of making a good first impression on our first-time guests and everyone else who attends our Sunday worship events.

Each Sunday, they are available at the beginning and end of the worship service to pray with anyone.

BETTER WAY
Every Christ-follower is called to help care for those in need. Through our association with Better Way Ministry (located in the Short North), we help provide a meal to those who rely on BWM for basic life needs. On the first Tuesday evening of each month, we go to BWM to deliver and help serve the meal, as well as lead a worship service and visit with those attending. We also provide an annual financial gift to BWM and have a Better Way Ministry collection of warm clothing items each December.
If your interested in participating in this ministry, please contact the church (614-764-1141.)
WINGS - WOMEN IN GOD'S SERVICE
The "WINGS" Women's Ministry seeks to provide opportunities for Bible study, times of spiritual inspiration and renewal, and the building of friendships among women. We meet at 7:00 p.m. on the 2nd Monday of each month (at the church) and have a Small Group Bible Study (The Lydia GROW group) that meets on the 1st and 3rd Mondays at 7:00 p.m. (also at the church.) All women are invited to attend either or both events. Additionally, our women have enjoyed attending occasional retreats, national women's conferences, mission projects and fun outings together.
In May 2008, we sponsored a Yard Sale and raised over $2300.00 for "Break the Chains", a ministry of the American Baptist Women, which is fighting human trafficking, the fastest growing criminal industry in the world and one which enslaves an estimated 800,000 women and children each year. In 2009, our "Bring Your Change To Break the Chains" jug raised an additional $1100.00. For more information about this, go to www.abwmbreakthechains.org.
MEN OF IRON (MEN'S MINISTRY)
The world of the 21st century is a time of challenge for all people. At Sawmill Baptist Church, we understand that spiritually mature men are the cornerstone of healthy families and growing friendships. The mission of SBC's Men's Ministry is to fulfill God's vision for every man as we grow in our spiritual walk by emphasizing learning God's Word, prayer, accountability, and reaching others for Christ. Our vision comes from Proverbs 27:17 - "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." The schedule of events includes:
